Cake Boss

I have been watching Cake Boss lately, and every time I watch it, it makes me want to bake cakes or cupcakes or whatever! I wish I had the kitchen, and cooking supplies to even make a simple cake. One day. Hopefully one day I'll be able to have that.

But... I was thinking about maybe starting small. Maybe I'll make a filipino dessert called Suman and sell it for $.25 a piece like my grandparents did when they were living in the U.S. They would get orders for 100 pieces daily and they were always always making Suman. I mean, it would be a lot of work, but imagine if I had an order of 100 per day. Thats $25 a day, 7 days a week. It might not be much, but it's something. And I'd be able to stay at home with my baby and pretty much cook all day. I don't mind that. :P

Seriously though, I really want a bakery. I used to love baking cakes with my sister when I was younger. I remember we made a chocolate cake with strawberries and snicker bars for my birthday cake when I was in 6th grade. And it was YUMMY! Something I definitely want to make again! I'm trying to think up what kind of cake I want for Nani's first birthday. I don't really have much time to figure it out either... But all I know is I'm definitely thinking about doing Red Velvet again. I made red velvet cupcakes and a cake for Easter and they were soooo yummy. But then again, I wouldn't mind the chocolate with strawberries and snicker bars. Ugh. I feel like I have so much time, but her birthday is right around the corner! I haven't even picked a day, or a location yet! Blegh. Maybe this weekend I'll get it figured out.

Which reminds me... I have a research paper due on Sunday. Yipes! And with that.. tata!

Steak Dinner

Today was another uneventful day. Just the usual routine of waking up and taking care of my beautiful daughter. Sometimes I get so sad when she sleeps because I miss her so much. All I want to do is cuddle with her. Her smile fills my heart with happiness. Gosh, I love my little girl. I mean, who can resist this face?

That's a picture from Easter Sunday when she had her first Easter egg hunt! We didn't fill them with candies because frankly, she's too young for them... so we filled it up with money and we added it to her college/car fund. But yeah, that's also what I accomplished today. Getting Nani's pictures onto my comp, resized, and uploaded!

Anyhoo, once hubby got home I went to the store to buy some ingredients for dinner that I made tonight and for dinner tomorrow. I cooked steak, mashed potatoes, colliflower/broccoli/cheese, and asparagus! Man oh man it was definitely a tasty tasty dinner. And tomorrow I'm planning on cooking lemon pepper chicken breasts with corn, green beens, and salad. Lately we've only been eating meat and rice with no veggies and I thought we should get some veggies in. So yeah, that's what I made for dinner!

I also happened to pick up a wall mount for our flat screen TV to put up in our room. However, since we don't have a drill hubby said he can't put it up yet. I knew I should've bought one while I was out. Oh well.. Next time I guess. I've gone this long without a wall mount, whats another few days or weeks or months.. right?

Well, going to work on Nani's dress some more. I'm actually getting some progress done on this thing, but I feel like it's taking me forever!! I just can't wait until it's finished and I can see her wearing it. Hopefully it fits because it looks like it's running a bit big. I guess we'll see!

Failed

Ok. So I just took my final for my Management of Survey Systems class and I got a 78 percent. I only had a few more questions to answer before my time ran out too and I'm sure I would have gotten at least 80 percent on it. UGH!! And it was worth 25% of my grade and right now I'm sitting at 59% close to 60%. My teacher still has one more thing to grade, but it's only worth 5% of my grade so I'll barely be getting something over 60%. And that.. is a certified D in my class!!

But that's what I get for not doing two weeks worth of class and failing my mid-term... and basically PROCRASTINATING!!! I've seriously procrastinated on my English research paper too, but that's all I have left to do for that class and I'm done. However, my grade in that class requires me to get a super good grade on my research paper. SON OF A GUN! This really sucks and I hope that I do better next quarter. I've got another english class and a java script class. FML. What did I get myself into. This computer stuff isn't easy.. well.. not exactly. Let me reword that...

I just really need to get myself back into gear and start focusing on my schoolwork more than video games.

New resolution added to my list of resolutions for this year: Do better in school. That is all for tonight. Going to work on Nani's dress and then go to sleep.

Pork Chops

Whoops! I totally forgot to update this earlier. :P But anyhoo..

I don't really cook pork chops and whenever I do I normally fail horribly at making them. They always come out tasteless and dry. But I decided that I wanted to make pork chops for dinner tonight since I bought a bunch of new spices yesterday to try it out in hopes of a tasty dinner. I mean, my best friend has this recipe that is sooo good and I really need to learn it so I can make it myself...

But since I don't have his recipe I sort of threw a bunch of stuff together and in all honesty it didn't come out too bad. I just used new orleans cajun spice, a little bit of lemon, salt and pepper, and veryyy little raspberry vinegarette (however you spell that). I should have seasoned it over night like I told myself to do but didn't. However, it didn't turn out so bad.. So in the future when I try to cook pork chops again I am going to either find out my bestie's recipe or I'm going to make a new one! I think also need to do a little research on recipe shopping for pork chops too. For some reason I don't feel comfortable cooking it, but since it didn't turn out too shabby this time I'm excited to try again.

Also, I really need to figure out how to start couponing. I went to some online coupon websites.. but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get them printed! I really need to stop procrastinating and get down to business. One day.. and hopefully soon. Lol.

And in all honesty, I have seriously been exhausted lately! I don't know why and I don't know where all my exhaustion is coming from because I do get decent amount of rest.. at least I think I do. Maybe 6 hours of sleep isn't enough anymore? Who knows. Well, back to working on Nani's dress. I've been lagging on that.. on my final homework.. on the Easter pictures.. yeah. I seriously think I am the queen of all procrastinators. Maybe one day I'll kick that bad habit....

Spring Cleaning

So, I'm pretty proud of myself. Hubby and I got some cleaning done around the house. We are ALMOST done moving in completely! And the sad part about it all is by the time we're done we might end up moving out again. Who really knows though. He wants me to move out when he gets deployed, but I pretty much just want to stay where we are at. I'm so tired of moving back and forth and I'm content with where we are now. I love our house and I like where we are. Even if it gets extremely lonely for me... but I have learned to deal with it.

I also got grocery shopping done today. Pretty much spent $100 easily on groceries, but I'm hoping that they'll last us for a while. At least a week or two.

Other than that.. I didn't really do much today. Just grocery shop and try to clean up. We got baby's room nice and clean, but I sorta cheated and threw some stuff on her closet floor and closed the doors. Lol. But I will go through everything eventually and organize. I am sooo horrible at organizing.

Oh, and whoever is watching The Secret Life of an American Teenager... what the heck is going on with this show?! I am dying with these cliff hangers at the end. Whyyyy must they do this to me and make me wait a whole week to see the next episode! I wish I just waited until this season was over and watched it on netflix so I could just watch episode after episode instead of having to wait. Lol.

Anyhoo, it's about half an hour to midnight and I've been lagging on working on Nani's dress so I'm gunna put in some work before I catch some ZzzZzzzzs. Which also reminds me, I have to get working on those Easter pics I got!

Rome

Well, to be fair so I wont miss a post, I'm updating from my phone as were on the way to the club. It's michelle's bday and were going to celebrate it at club rome. I've never been there but iI'm hoping it's dope. I'm pretty dolled up tonight but I don't really like how i did make-up tonight but its chill. Not my night anyway.

On another note, I'm super sad because I had to take my knitting apart and start over because I messed up somewhere and it was going to take me forever to backtrack so I figured it'd be easier to just start over. I was definitely frustrated though! Ok. I'll have to end this here kuz I'm getting carsick. Lol.

Kinect Party

Ok. So I know this post is going to be dated the 23rd of April, but common.. it's like 5 minutes after midnight.. so I'm going to consider it the 22nd still. I mean, I haven't gone to sleep yet and woke up in the morning for it to actually be the 23rd.. so yeah. Cut me some slack! I was pretty busy today anyway from the second I woke up until now.

But anyhoo, last night I came across this website for Ana White and she has a bunch of plans where you can build your own furniture and I fell in love with a bunch of projects. I don't really have any of the tools to do anything, but I found a very simple thing that I could do and would cost little money and pretty much didn't require any heavy duty stuff. You can find the plan here.

Soooo, today I went to Home Depot with Chris and Michelle and went shopping for our supplies. Instead of doing two 8 foot boards we are doing one 5 ft board and 12 paper clips instead of 24. So far all we have done is sanding the edges down, but we couldn't really finish because we had to head to Chili's for a birthday dinner for one of my husband's co-workers. So we head to Chili's, ha d a huge dinner.. and then everyone came back to our place to play some xbox kinect. Let me just say, we had a lot of laughs and my arms feel like rubber because I had a boxing match with my husband and we went all three rounds. I'm totally going to feel the aftermath of it tomorrow.

But anyhoo, I hope to get my project done and put up tomorrow so I can take pictures of my lovely result and post it for you to see! And with that, good night!

(Well, I probably won't be sleeping soon because I need to really get working on Nani's dress and I haven't finished the top part of it yet. Yeah yeah.. I've been lagging. Aaand, I still have a research paper that I NEED to get working on because it's due next week and I need a good grade in that class.)

Knitting in my sleep

I thought I'd do a quick post before my daughter wakes up for lunch time.

Anyway, you know how sometimes you are really exhausted, but you are trying to get something done, and no matter what you do you can't stop yourself from falling in and out of sleep? Well, I have kind of a funny story, or at least I think it's pretty funny.

Since I haven't been doing much of my crafting lately, a few days ago I de
cided to break out my yarn stash that has a bunch of yarns thought I have bought and have been stored for years! I picked a few bundles of yarn and then searched through my saves files of knit/crochet patterns for a project and came across the Little Sister's Dress Pattern. I decided to make Nani (my daughter's nickname) a dress for summer! Anyhoo, I wanted to get a bit of it done before bedtime, and I hate stopping in the middle of something because I KNOW I'll forget where I was, what row I'm working on and yadda yadda, so I tried to finish my section before going to sleep! Well, as I was getting to my last few rows, I started to nod off and somehow, someway I was able to finish what I was doing. When I put my work down, I sort of laughed to myself because I noticed that I was knitting with my eyes closed and practically sort of sleeping while doing it. Who does that? Who knits in their sleep? I guess I do.

Well, here are a couple of pictures of my progress. I was thinking of doing a white top with a blue bottom? Thoughts?

Oh, and I wanted to post pics of this beanie that I made. I used the Phannie pattern from ravelry.
Ok. I can definitely here Nani starting to wake up, so time to go! I'll probably end up posting again tonight. Who knows?

The Beginning

So, I have made several blogs in the past, and I have quite the difficulty keeping them updated. Sometimes I just forget about them, and by the time I remember I have a blog.. months have gone by...

So the point of this blog is, I'm going to try and stick to my guns and ACTUALLY update it! And I want to try to update it everyday for at least a year. Tough. I know. So, for my first post.. here goes!

Just a brief background on me. I am married to a Navy Airman. My husband has been in the navy for almost 3 years and he is an aviation mechanic. We are also fairly new parents. I gave birth to our daughter last year in June. He was deployed for most of her first year. He just came back not too long ago, and we will be going through our second deployment at the end of the year. I can guarantee that we are NOT looking forward to it. Out of the 2 years of our daughter's life, he will have missed at least a year of it. Not to mention he is going to be missing her FIRST birthday!! So lame. BUT, we are going to celebrate it early so he can be a part of it. She's turning 1, and I'm sure she won't know the difference. :) So today, we finally figured out the day we are celebrating it and where. At least, I hope we did. Knowing us, our plans are probably going to change last minute.. as they always do.

Also, ever since I was pregnant with our daughter, I tuned in to my crafty side. I have always knew how to knit and crochet since I was in elementary school, but I never really focused much on it. But now, it's what really helps me bring down my stress levels. That, and video games. So, I do plan on posting stuff that I have made, and links to free patterns on the site!

Well, it's getting late! Gnight! See ya tomorrow!
